Do I need a permit?

If your skip is being placed on your private property then a permit is not required. Private property includes driveways , gardens and commercial land.

You will require an on road permit for skips placed on the road. Skip permits do incur an extra charge because these are issued by the local council. A minimum of 48 hours notice is required to obtain an on road permit.

If your waste is ready to go then we can offer a wait and load service.

A wait & load is where we bring the skip to your property and wait 45 minutes while you load the skip. We agree a date and time to do this. The skip is then taken away straight away! No road permit to pay , all you pay is the normal cost of a skip.

How long can I keep the skip for?

Our hire period is from 1 day to 3 weeks.

Types of Skips and Sizes

What skip size do I need?

The simplest way of choosing a skip size is using this rule : A midi skip is perfect for any quantity of waste 60 blacks bags or under , anything over 60 black bags or bulky waste would require a bigger skip. The largest skip we offer is the 8 cubic yard builders skip.

Can the skip go over a fence/hedge/wall?

If the wall is less than 4 foot we can place the skip over it!

Can the skip be placed on my garden?

Yes! Providing we can access the garden and the space is big enough to accommodate the skip size you require

Do you put something on the drive to protect it?

We will always try an accommodate the request to being protection for driveways. Our drivers can bring wood to put down on your drive before the skip is placed down. Although we always try , sometimes this is not always possible so it is always best to ask in advance.

Do all skips come with a door?

No , not all of our skips come with a door. The only skip size we offer with a drop door is the 8 cubic yard (builders) skips. These must be requested at time of ordering.

If you do request a drop door on the skip , it's always best to let us know which end you would like the door to face so that the driver can load it onto the lorry correctly.

Delivery of the Skip

Do I need to be in when the skip is delivered?

No , so long as we can access the area and full payment has been made you do not need to be in when the skip is delivered.

Most of our customers leave us instructions on where they want the skip placing , this is passed onto the driver for when he arrives at your property.

Will the skip fit on my driveway?

We require 9ft for the lorry to access your drive to be able to fit the skip on. If you have any queries on access then contact us direct and we can help

What time will the skip be delivered?

We deliver skips between 7am-5pm. If we are delivering early morning we will call you the day before to ensure you can accept this. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee or give rough ideas on delivery times , sometimes we hit issues with vehicles and traffic , therefore we offer a call to you when the driver is on the way.

Using/loading the skip

How high can I fill the skip?

We accept waste filled level with the top of the skip. If we arrive at your property and the skip is overfilled our driver will refuse it. Our drivers have to ensure that the skips are safe to transport on the road to avoid items falling off when they are on the road.

Items such as doors placed in the skip to "build it up" are not acceptable.

Does the driver put a net on the skip?

Yes , our drivers are always required to put a net on the skip before they go back on the road.

Can I move the skip after it has been delivered?

No , the skip cannot be moved after it has been delivered. When the drivers delivers the skip they have made sure that it is accessible by any other driver. Should you move the skip , this could make it inaccessible and would result in us not being able to pick it up.

It's that time of the year AGAIN! Comes round so quickly! So , before the tree goes up and the decorations come out , we all feel like we need a clear out beforehand (or is it just me) . Where are all those new toys going to go? Where are we going to put the new bikes? When you put your waste in the skip you've hired , do you think about where it goes and what happens with it? Every person who passes their waste onto a company or another person has the right to know what happens with it , whether this is by Skip Hire or Waste Clearance or even Skip Bags. Our article looks are what happens to the waste types we collect in your skips. First step The first step when we collect your skip is to take it to our licensed waste transfer station. The transfer station is permitted by the Environment Agency who carry out periodic checks. Some companies take their waste to third party waste transfer stations but we have our own. You can check on the Environment Agency website whether a company has an Environmental Permit and /or a Waste Carriers Licence. Segregation of the waste The waste is tipped within a large waste building and segregation starts. The waste is separated into material which can be recycled , recovered or disposed of. RECYCLED WASTE Wood Wood waste from your skip is recycled to make new wood products such as MDF and animal bedding Metal Metal waste is recycled to make new products too! Scrap metal is in high demand and mostly sent all over the world! Soil / Rubble / Bricks Inert waste is recycled and again made into new products such a road stone. The inert waste goes through a process of quality checks to ensure the waste is safe to re-use. By crushing and screening the waste it can remove contaminates and reduce the size to make it suitable for re-use in building materials. Green Waste Green waste such as bushes and shrubs are taken to a specialist facility to be turned into compost. Anaerobic digestion is the process used to turn your garden waste and biodegradable wastes into the compost which is used to grow your flowers! Cardboard and Paper Card and Paper again is either sent to paper mills within the UK or exported to China. Either way the card/paper is recycled and made into new products. WEEE Waste Small and large electronical wastes are either fixed and re-used or stripped and components recycled. Non-recyclable material By the time we have processed the waste we have a small amount of material which cannot be recycled. A high percentage of this waste is sent for recovery. Waste recovery means turning into energy. For example , Energy from Waste Plants accept this material and turn it into energy that can be used to power homes and business premises. Landfilled waste A small (2%) of waste we accept in your skips is taken to landfill (for now). This is the waste whih absolutley cannot be re-used , recycled or recovered. Why is it important to use a Skip Hire company who are doing all they can to divert from landfill? The UK is running out of Landfill space , therefore waste experts are working behind the scenes to find new way to recycle your waste materials. Depositing recyclable materials into landfill is not only a crime but it is also unethical. Here at Cheap Skips Mansfield , our aim is to hit our target of getting our waste 100% diverted from landfill and in the recent year this percentage creeps up with new innovative ways that are being introduced from experts. By choosing an ethical company you are also contributing to protecting your local environment but also the global environment.

Is my driveway suitable for skip hire? Having a skip on the road is inconvenient but also a nightmare if you have limited parking spaces. So the best option is to get the skip placed on your drive. But is your driveway suitable? Here we look at what we require from your driveway to be able to place a skip on it. We will also provide you with alternatives if you do not have a drive or do not want a skip on your driveway. Size matters! The skip size you need will determine if the size of your drive will accommodate it. Checking the skip sizes against your drive will help , if you know your measurements , we can advise on whether the skip you want will fit. Traditional driveways that can accommodate a car will fit any of three skips we offer , so long as access is right. In the wonderful world of our skip hire office we can see your drive on street maps , so just give us your address and we can check very quickly for you if you are unsure. Will the skip damage your drive? We do everything we can to ensure that your property is not damaged when hiring a skip from us. This includes providing driver training and ensuring our vehicles are ship shape. Dropping the skip on your drive take precision and careful use of the lifting arms to ensure the skip is placed down not dropped or dragged. If you have a new drive or have concerns we can bring materials to place on the drive before we place the skip down. In some cases our customers like to protect their driveway before we get to them. Either way , give us a call and we will do all we can to ease your concerns. Skips are heavy metal objects Our skips are heavy meatal objects which become heavier when you start to place your waste in them. So if you know that your driveway is slightly soft or block paved then let us know and we can bring protective wood with us. Manholes Should you have a manhole on your drive we need to know. Although our drivers carry out checks , sometimes when manoeuvring they miss manholes. Don't want a skip on your driveway? Maybe you are having your drive dug up or you need the drive for materials , we can offer alternatives: On Road Skip Hire In most areas of Mansfield and Nottingham we can place a skip on the road. The process take slightly longer so we will need at least 3 workings days notice to obtain the skip permit from the Local Council. The skip permit is paid for once and depending on area can last from 14-28 days , therefore if you have another skip in that period you will not need to pay for another permit. Wait & Load Skip Hire Wait & Load skip hire is a great way to get rid of your waste quickly and easily. There is no additional cost to this , its the same price as whatever skip size you choose. How it works: You choose the date and time you would like the skip for We bring the skip and wait 45 minutes while you load it The skip is taken away straight away Ready to order a skip in Mansfield or Nottingham ? Many times we are asked how much are your skips? How much is a skip on the road? The answer is really simple if you are a local skip hire company because we deliver direct to you. Most local skip hire companies have set prices , therefore they can give you a price straight away and if they are like us they will display their Skip Price online. So why the different range of prices? Some companies have high disposal costs so you will see varied prices locally HOWEVER , some companies are Skip Brokers. Skip brokers are normally located far away from where you live and use local skip companies to deliver the skip for them - This adds a commission charge on top. You then end up paying for the skip hire plus commission. How do I know the skip hire company is local? Maybe you have seen the lorries , maybe you have passed their office. If you ask to visit the office a genuine local skip hire company will be more than happy to have a visit from you. Skip brokers will not. Is it better to deal with a skip broker or a local skip hire company? We would obviously say its always better to deal with a local skip hire company , you know where you stand with us but also you cut out the middle man. Skip brokers have to call you back to get estimated delivery times or if there are issues they have to contact the local company first. Dealing direct with local companies gets any issues resolved straight away - plus you do not have an added cost on top! So, How much is Skip Hire in Mansfield , Nottingham? Our Skip Hire Prices are set every year in April to match the landfill tax increase. These prices below will change in April 2022 but for now they are set until then , unless we have an offer on which may lower the price!
