Exchange
- Collection of the current skip at the property and delivery of a brand new skip - Completed at the same time during the same journey
Collection : Collection of the full skip from the property - to be taken to an authorised disposal site.
Wait & Load : A skip is delivered to the property of the customer (either on the drive or on the road) , the driver will wait 45 minutes whilst the customer loads the skip. The skip is then taken away and the waste disposed of. This service is ideal for removing waste quickly or for customers with no off road areas for a skip to be placed.
On Road / Off Road : On road is where a skip is placed on the public highway- any place where cars can pass the skip. Off road is an area where a skip can be placed on private land eg driveway , unadopted road , gardens.
Road permit ; A permit the local council issues to allow a skip to be placed on the road (safely) by a skip hire company for a specified amount of time following specific conditions.
Yarder : This terms is used when explaining the size of the skip. For example a 4 yarder is a skip with a 4 cubic yard capacity.
Midi Skip : Our definition of a midi skip is a medium sized skip - such as 4 cubic yard and a 5 cubic yard. Different companies use the term for difference sizes , therefore it is always best to check which skip size they are referring to.
Builders Skip : Our definition of a builder’s skip is an 8 cubic yard skip. Terms "builders skip" because this size is supposedly predominantly used by builders , however they are very popular with house clearance waste , moving home and garden renovations
Hire period : The length of time you can keep the skip
Overfilled Skip : A skip which has been filled above the level load. The level load is the very top of the skip. Over filled skips are dangerous for drivers to transport and other road users , therefore any skips which are overfilled will be refused.
Builders Waste : Unwanted materials left over after the construction , demolition or renovation of a property (commercial or domestic. For example , rubble , wood , hardcore , metals , plasterboard, and electrical wiring. This is not a definitive list.
Hazardous Waste : Anything which may cause a risk to public health or the surrounding environment.

Inert Waste : A waste which will not decompose. Examples of inert waste are sand , concrete , clay , brick , sub soil.
WEEE Waste :Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment - Most products which are battery or plug operated. Examples include computers , fridges , mobile phones , tools.
Environmental Permit : Environmental Permits are issued to an individual or company to carry out an activity under certain conditions. Regulated by the Environment Agency. In this case ,for skip hire activities it would be an Environmental Permit for Waste Operations such as the transfer and treatment of waste.
Waste Carriers License : Any business or person (as part of work activities) who transports , dispose , buy or sell waste or arranges for others to do so on their behalf must hold a Waste Carriers License.
Waste Transfer Note : A Waste Transfer Note is a document is a document which details the transfer of waste from one person/business to another. The WTN details where the waste was produced , who produced it , who the waste was passed to , the vehicle registration it was carried on , the date and time of the transfer and the waste description. Any company who collects waste from your property (during skip hire) are legally obliged to provide you with a Waste Transfer Note
